About Black Signs
Joe Black worked for 20 years as a sign painter for a company in Springfield, Missouri. After spending 20 years working for someone else, he decided to create his own company. Joe Black Signs, founded in 1973, began with a paint brush and imagination in the basement of his home in Ozark, Missouri. Starting with only the capability to hand letter, Joe created a sign company to pass down to his children. In 1977, Dan Black went to work for his father as a sign painter. When Joe retired in 1989 he left the company in Dan's capable and talented hands. Dan quickly began to expand the company's service offerings by adding vinyl lettering. The company has since grown into digital prints, metal or plastic lettering, and much more. In 2003, Dan Black brought in a new partner, John Gill. The business moved into a Springfield, Missouri location in 2005 and continues to expand as we serve businesses and clients in Arkansas, Missouri, Kansas, and Oklahoma and all across the lower forty-eight.
